Explain how to deal with this error code.

Upgrade failure

When I tried to upgrade from old Windows to Windows 10, the following error occurred.

0xC1900101 --0x4000D
The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT
phase because an error occurred during the MIGRATE_DATA operation.

Even if I execute a clean installation, it fails with "KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED".


(1) According to the following page, the following causes are possible.

・ Delete unnecessary drivers. There seems to be a problem with some devices.
・ Temporarily delete unnecessary accounts. It seems that if there is a problem with the user profile, the upgrade may fail because it is not compatible with Windows 10. Delete unnecessary accounts, ・ It seems that your account may work if you back up your desktop or documents to an external medium

Apply the latest update and then try the upgrade again. For example, updating Windows 7 to the latest version and then upgrading may work.
